Gnucleus was the base for a couple of open-source Gnutella related projects such as GWebCache, GnucDNA or GnucNS. Gnucleus is defined as a Windows application for accessing the Gnutella and G2 networks. The program was one of the first releases of its kind after the Gnutella introduction in 2000 by Nullsoft. It is also the first client to fully support the G2 network, the future of open protocol P2P. For the moment, the development effort is concentrated on the core of Gnucleus (GnucDNA) rather than the Gnucleus interface itself.
